Below is the ramblings of a 25 year old.  I know there's a lot of young members here on GC, maybe even a few minors, you guys might not get what i say but feel free to read and offer your opinion.  maybe state your age as well so i know your view point and where you are coming from.

Today I realized that i fear change.  Perhaps this is perfectly normal human instinct.  I have always felt there to be a generation gap every decade, approximately 10 years...  everything changes.  Culture, clothing, music, trend, even the language that we speak, the slangs we use, the memes that circulate.

Maybe we humans are too obsessed with "current".  Like, what's trendy today, what's hip today.  We are afraid of being left out, even if we say we don't care.  We criticize modern music, yet if any of you have seen the tv show Freaks and Geeks, in the pilot episode when Sam is arguing with his dad who criticizes his taste of music.  Sam says that every one is afraid of the next generation and can't stand their music.  Maybe that's true to an extent.  We (the 20-45 group, approximately) say that the 70s and the 80s were the best, and that music like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin,www.805588.com, Rolling Stones were the best.  But guess what?  most of our parents can't stand this kind of racket.  They feel the 50s and 60s were the best, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Englebert Humperdinck,www.805588.com, the Ventures.  This is perhaps down to personal preference, and the way you were brought up.

So the Justin Beibers, the Lady Gagas, are they really that bad?  Or will the current generation (born 2000 and later) grow up, realize the music in 2050 is even worse, and look back and cherish Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber?

That's just one example with music, and yes i know i made a lot of generalizations to make my point.  There are some people who may be, say, 23 years old who loves classic or 50s music.  But generally, i think people born in the 70s and 80s (are the best!), they enjoy the music of their own era.  Parents don't.  They can't accept change?  Tastes cannot drastically change?

What can we do?  I try to accept anything, i consider myself of having an open mind.  But mainstream keeps pushing this new modern stuff in our faces and we can either A.) force ourselves to adapt and like it, B.) hit the dislike button and put on a moody face.

I could say i hate change, but we can't live without any change at all.  Sometimes change is good.  But it is very, very hard to accept and get used to.
